Grants and subsidies includes various forms of public funding that is available for farmers, landowners and businesses. In the changing agricultural economy these grants and subsidies are very important. We work with landowners and occupiers to prepare and submit applications and provide advice and management for the majority of the schemes available, many of which have strict deadlines and requirements. In particular we pride ourselves on helping new landowners and business become aware of the available funding in order for them to make the most out of their property and business.
The Single Payment Scheme (SPS) is a subsidy that is available to farmers and landowners for keeping agricultural land in good agricultural and environmental condition. It is a complex scheme with strict deadlines and requirements, but our daily involvement with the Scheme on behalf of clients means that we are up-to-date and able to ensure that everything runs smoothly. All aspects of the Scheme are covered including the completion of the annual application, customer registration and changes of details, the trading and transfer of SPS entitlements, Rural Land Register mapping, the completion of Soil Protection Reviews and liaising with the Rural Payments Agency on your behalf.
Environmental Stewardship is a suite of environmental management agreements launched in 2005 that a landowner or farmer can enter into in return for various levels of payment. We can provide the complete package, from an initial scoping exercise to assess if Environmental Stewardship is suitable for you, to preparing and submitting the applications for Entry Level Stewardship, Uplands Entry Level Stewardship and Higher Level Stewardship.
Our strength is that we can draw on our agricultural background to liaise with Natural England on your behalf in a professional manner to formulate an application that best meets both the objectives of the landowner and Natural England whilst maximising income. We can arrange for Farm Environment Plans (FEP) to be carried out for Higher Level Stewardship, and also have experience of coordinating group applications on Common land.
We manage a number of existing agreements, such as Countryside Stewardship and Environmentally Sensitive Area agreements, including submission of the annual form and arranging and claiming for capital works.
The Forestry Commission offer a range of grants under the English Woodland Grant Scheme for the creation and management of woodlands. We can advise you on your eligibility for grant funding, complete the application forms on you behalf and even put you in touch with recommended forestry contractors. The grants are administered by the Forestry Commission and the Rural Payments Agency, who we have much experience in working with.
We also have experience of coordinating locally run funding schemes for forestry, such as those by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Authority and Yorkshire Dales Millennium Trust.
We have provided a co-coordinating role for several different rural business grants such as the Rural Enterprise Investment Programme, Dairy Infrastructure Grant and Woodfuel Infrastructure Grant. We have prepared and submitted grant applications, managed the projects and arranged for claims. Successful projects comprise a variety of businesses including tourism facilities, a farm shop, an open farm, new dairy facilities and woodfuel production infrastructure.
