Fern Hill is conveniently located within the Yorkshire Dales National Park between the villages of Hellifield and Long Preston with direct access via a private track from the A65. Long Preston, which lies about 1 mile to the north west, is a small village offering two pubs, a post office/general store, a church, a primary school and a railway station on the Leeds - Morecambe line. The nearby market town of Settle provides a wider range of services including primary and secondary schooling, independent shops and Booths supermarket. The larger market town of Skipton, about 11 miles to the south, provides a still wider range of amenities and connections to the larger business centres within the Aire Valley.

From Skipton head north west on the A65 signed to Settle/Kendal passing through the villages of Gargrave, Coniston Cold and Hellifield. On leaving Hellifield continue past Townson Tractors, Gallaber Caravan Park and Waterside Lane on your right. About 250 metres past Waterside Lane you will come to a railway bridge where the entrance to Fern Hill is immediately after the bridge on the right. A for sale sign has been erected at the entrance. Follow the track for about 500 metres where it opens into the yard in front of the building.
